Strategic Engagement Specialist | Washington DC Hybrid

Role description
We are seeking an experienced Executive Strategic Communications Specialist to lead executive engagement and communications support for senior leadership. This role is ideal for a communications professional who excels at preparing executives for high-profile external engagements, shaping leadership messaging, and managing coordination across internal and external stakeholders.
This role focuses on executive readiness, message development, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring leadership is fully prepared for meetings, speaking engagements, panels, conferences, congressional interactions, industry engagements, and media-facing opportunities.
The ideal candidate possesses exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, critical thinking, and political acuity. We are looking for a strategic and highly organized professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, balances multiple priorities effectively, and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail while supporting high-visibility leadership engagements.
What you’ll be responsible for

Draft and refine executive communications materials with a strong understanding of tone, audience, strategic intent and client mission and objectives

Translate complex policy, technical, and organizational information into clear and compelling messaging

Anticipate sensitive topics, reputational risks, and potential lines of questioning

Coordinate messaging across communications, policy, legislative affairs, and program teams to ensure consistency and accuracy

Support development of communication strategies for high-visibility initiatives and engagements

Act as liaison between Federal leadership offices and external event organizers, conference staff, partner organizations, and government stakeholders

Coordinate engagement logistics related to executive participation, including agendas, speaker requirements, briefing timelines, and follow-up actions
-
Manage communications timelines and ensure all preparation materials are delivered accurately and on schedule

Maintain executive engagement calendars, preparation trackers, and communications workflows as needed
-
Support after-action reporting, lessons learned documentation, and executive follow-up communications
-
Provide strategic counsel and recommendations to leadership regarding messaging approaches and stakeholder engagement opportunities

Assist with onsite executive support and direction to ensure a smooth engagement experience
What you need to apply

Local to the D.C, Maryland, or Virgina area - this is a hybrid position and requires two days a week in our Washington D.C. office space

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Demonstrated experience preparing senior executives or government leaders for external engagements and high-visibility interactions

Exceptional writing, editing, and message development skills with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences

Strong understanding of executive communications protocols, stakeholder management, and organizational messaging alignment

Experience coordinating across multiple senior stakeholders in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.

Ability to synthesize complex information quickly and produce polished executive-ready materials under tight timelines

Strong organizational and project coordination skills with exceptional attention to detail

Proven ability to independently manage several projects simultaneously and to produce measurable results

U.S. citizenship

Ability to travel up to 30% when necessary

Have transferable clearance or ability to acquire a clearance
